It's funny how perspective changes with every year older we get. I am learning that joy really is a choice. Sometimes life is hard and it's so much easier to let life's struggles and trials get the best of us.Almost five years ago I went through a trial that tested me to my very core. It tested my physical, emotional, and spiritual strength. The crazy thing is, I was able to find joy during that time. My family, friends and faith were a major part of that because of their help and prayers. Today, 5 years later, there are a couple small remnants of the struggles of that time that we still deal with but overall life has almost returned...
One of my words for this year is prioritize. And when I say prioritize I mean minimize and organize as well. In all areas of my life. I want my life to have real purpose. I don't want it to be a bustle of chaotic activity that in the end really didn't add much to the quality of my life. So, for this year, prioritize is a loaded word. I want to joy, satisfaction and fulfillment with the things I choose to fill my life with. So if that means learning to say no more often I want to learn to say no. "NO!" "No, thank you." "Not at this time." "No, but thank you for thinking of me." I'll keep...
I am another year older this month. "The really frightening thing about middle age is the knowledge that you'll grow out of it" - Doris Day Let's enjoy some comments from my littles: "You were born in the 1900's??" They are adorable aren't they.... 😏 A few things I have learned so far: Life can knock the wind out of you and leave you GASPING for air...but those are things that can make you stronger. Dark chocolate is better. I can't control everything...figuring...
I finally got all the lights and decorations of Christmas somewhat neatly packed away. It's such a good thing to have done but boy I miss the light, the color, the music, and the festivities of December. It can make January feel pretty cold, quiet and gray. I read something though a few years back that has changed my outlook on January gray. I was doing some research for a little art project and came across an article that told about the benefits of using gray as a background in a painting or photograph. Simply put, gray, dark or light, makes other colors pop! So why not use those gray skies for inspiration? If looking out your window gets you down,...
