It is Well with my Soul

Do you know the history of these well known words on this sign? I didn't, so I did a little research and this is what I found.⁣⁣"In 1871, Horatio Spafford, a prosperous lawyer and devout Christian, and his wife, Anna, were living comfortably with their four young daughters in Lake View, Chicago.⁣In that year the great fire broke out which devastated the entire city. For the next two years Horatio and Anna devoted their time to welfare work amongst the refugees of the fire.⁣⁣By November 1873 the Spaffords needed some respite and decided to join friends in Europe but just before their departure Horatio was detained on business. Anna and their four daughters were persuaded to set off without him...

More Fun being a Kid

When you were a kid did you every lay on the floor in the sunshine? 😃 I opened the curtains today and let the warm light in and I couldn't help myself. I laid down on the floor in the sunshine.🌞 Sometimes I even do some childish things like throw tantrums and have pity parties... heh... but sometimes I do the good stuff like run through the sprinklers and jump in puddles.🌧 ⁣⁣I challenge you do one childlike (not childish 😏) thing before the end of the day. The sillier the better!⁣ Don't forget to come back and tell us what you did! Better yet, send us a pic! 😍⁣-Jessica⁣

Keep your Face toward the Sunshine

My husband and I like to listen to books while we're on a road trip. Recently we listened to "The Compound Effect" by Darren Hardy. It's a great read/listen and I highly recommend it.⁣⁣One of my favorite parts is when he compares our mind to an empty glass. The effect of constantly listening to the news and the radio talk shows, along with any negative programming, is like filling the glass with dirty water. It tends to focus on the negative, the sensational, the shocking. I agree completely. How many times do you come away from watching or reading the news feeling uplifted, encouraged, and at peace?? But, he states, at the same time there are countless wonderful, amazing things...

You Have to Learn to Laugh

I've been visiting the chiropractor a lot lately because basically my neck curves where it shouldn't and is straight where it should curve. Sounds a lot like the rest of my body! 😘 Well.. I am still trying to learn to relax as my body is twisted and cracked in ways I don't twist and crack. I usually hold my breath and tense up but I decided this wasn't helping and I made up my mind to just let it go and breath naturally as he worked on my back. This was a HUGE mistake. The startling and horrifically embarrassing sound that came from my mouth as the air was forced from my lungs was some sort of awful mix...

Guilty child/Sneaky mom

No interrogation needed with this highly refined technique😏. When it's too quiet and you get that mom sense that they are getting into trouble just pull out the ninja moves and slip in from behind and watch the reaction.🕵 You'll either get a "oh, hi Mom" or you will have to peel them off the ceiling. My middle child is the most entertaining with this but I did get an awesome reaction from my daughter once too. She was in trouble and stomped up to her room. After a minute I could hear talking and I walked upstairs to see who she was talking to. She was ranting incoherently and I stood for a minute trying to make out what...
