I'm grateful my husband helped me change my attitude from fear to appreciation. A lot of things in life can seem scary on the outside but when we look a little deeper into it, and experience it, we just might come to understand that ultimately there may be a real treasure hidden inside.
It's officially summer here, meaning my grandkids are out of school and may be stopping by during the day now instead of evenings and weekends. Time to stock up on popsicles, ice cream bars, fruit snacks, rootbeer, and well, maybe something healthy here and there too. It's time to check the bucket of sidewalk chalk--and make sure there are plenty of good colors, drag out the scooters, and put air in the wagon wheel tires. Pop-its and fireworks will soon be available. They'll be asking for those too. Oh, and of course we can't forget the bubbles! There must be plenty of bubble solution! Water. Growing up in a simpler time, Memorial Day (or as my parents called it "Decoration Day") was a time to well, remember. A time to remember grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even a sister by placing beautiful flowers on their graves. Even just thinking about Memorial Day I can smell carnations, and see daisies, iris, and mums. The cemetery was covered with not only colorful flowers but also flags to remember the men and women who served our country, some of them giving the ultimate sacrifice of their lives.
